Photochromic Molecules Continuously Adjust To Light

 

When transition lenses are exposed to UV light, trilions of photochromic molecules in the lens begin to change structure. This reaction is what causes the lenses to darken.

Indirect light can come from many sources such as light bouncing off buildings, cars, or other surfaces or light filtering through trees or clouds.
