Today’s technologies make our lenses thinner, lighter, stronger, and better able to cope with the wear and tear of daily use, more so than anyone could have dreamt of just a generation ago.These technologies all address individual issues. Need protection from bright sunlight? Use a tint or a transition lens. As the grow older, your eyes can not see good things near or far? Use a progressive lens. If you have these two confuse, photochromic progressive lens is the best choice for you.
Progressive lens are also called No-Line Bifocals. They actually have three fields of vision – distance, computer, and reading. You can custom your Rx so you can use them for different distances, but that’s usually what people use them for. The progressive lens will progress from one “vision” to the next as you move your eye down through the lens, being that the top is distance and progresses to computer and then reading. |

Potochromic lenses are optical lens that darken on exposure to specific types of light of sufficient intensity, most commonly UV radiation. In the absence of activating light the lenses return to their clear state. Photochromic lenses may be made of glass, polycarbonate, or another plastic. They are principally used in eyeglassses that are dark in bright sunlight, but clear in low ambient light conditions. They darken significantly within about a minute of exposure to bright light, and take somewhat longer to clear. A range of clear and dark transmittances are available. |
